Radhika Apte disturbed over rising violence in films
India, Dec. 13 -- Actor Radhika Apte has raised her voice against the growing prevalence of violence in Indian films and shows. The actor, who took a temporary break from work following the birth of her child in-----, described the surge of gore on screens as 'deeply disturbing' and expressed concern about its impact on society in a new interview.
"I am deeply disturbed by the violence at the moment that is being sold as entertainment. I don't want to be bringing up a child in a world where that is entertainment. I cannot deal with it," Radhika told The Hollywood Reporter.
She also criticised the industry's tendency to equate shock value with storytelling. "If I want to tell a story of a man who chopped off people, I don't need to see the chopping and horrible things that they are doing . That is not storytelling," she added.
Her frustration also extends to the ways women are depicted. "I find it disturbing that actresses are doing films that demean women," she said. "I think we need to collectively stop doing them." HTC...
