India, June 17 -- L isa Mishra is riding high on the love pouring in for The Royals and her new single Teri Hoon - both of which carry a strong pro-LGBTQIA+ message. And that's no coincidence. "I had just played a character in a same-sex relationship in The Royals, and that inspired me to write a song," Lisa says, adding, "At the core, I'm a singer first, and I wanted to return to romantic ballads - something I feel has been missing lately." She points out that in the age of reels and short-form content, slow, emotional songs rarely go viral. "It's become harder for a song like this to trend," she adds, "And releasing independent music is a challenge in itself. But I was determined to write a long-form track that also had a music video. I intentionally wrote the lyrics from one woman to another's perspective. Even the visuals are less ambiguous - there's a female dancer in the background who could represent the inner self." Lisa says she didn't think twice about exploring a same-sex love story in her music. "I've been lucky to grow up surrounded by people from the community. I never felt the need to ask for permission or second-guess myself," she shares, adding, "Even with the show, some people wondered how my parents would react - but they were totally fine. Love is the same, people fall in love the same way."...
