India, Oct. 5 -- When director Shazia Iqbal's Dhadak 2 premiered earlier this year, the film received praise from critics but didn't get much traction at the box-office. However, since the film landed on OTT, Shazia says she has only received an overflow of positive reactions: "I don't have a lot of followers on Instagram, but I've been getting about 20 messages per hour. Siddhant (Chaturvedi, one of the leads) called me recently to say he feels the OTT release is bigger than the theatrical." Does she feel the film suffered because of the narratives around it? The filmmaker explains, "I don't think we did badly business-wise, but if you go online, there are some people who will say, 'Oh, Dhadak 2 is a disaster, a flop'. That is a little heartbreaking." She confesses, "The film was made in a very massy, entertaining tone. If I'd made it with film festivals in mind, I'd have played differently with the tone." However, Shazia says she found solace in the words of some of her colleagues. "There are so many filmmakers who told me, 'We're surprised why the film didn't run.' Even though it was a little upsetting, OTT has given it a new life. Some even told me, 'It's going to be a cult film eventually'," she ends....
