India, Dec. 8 -- The transition from TV to the big screen is not one that every actor has managed to ace. Gautam Rode, who has had a brush with Bollywood himself, wonders why his film career never really took off in a big way, but the actor is glad his wife, actor Pankhuri Awasthy, is taking a leap into movies at a time when there seems to be "space for new people".

A popular name in the TV circuit, Gautam made his film debut with Annarth (2002), and followed it up with projects such as U, Bomsi n Me (2005), Agyaat (2009), and Aksar 2 (2017). Now, Pankhuri, seen in Razia Sultan and Kya Qusoor Hai Amala Ka?, is set to foray into filmdom with Shubh Mangal Zyada Saavdhan.
