Out with hot girl summer, in with summertime superfood:Gond Katira
India, May 22 -- Have you come across health gurus and influencers swearing by gond katira this summer? Well, it's not just scroll bait! This crystalline herb, acquired from the sap of the plant Locoweed (Astragalus gummifer shrubs) actually is a summertime superfood!
Gond katira, or Tragacanth gum has natural cooling properties and became the talk of town after nutritionist Deepsikha Jain listed its various benefits on the 'gram.
"These diamond crystals are so good for health. Gond katira is a summer superfood which can help you stay hydrated and also maintain good bone density," Deepshikha said in her Reel. She also explained a few other benefits of the superfood.
It's a good idea to keep it handy during the summer. You can drink it by adding any fluid, such as buttermilk or water. "All you need to do is take a little bit of gond katira and soak it in water for 3-4 hours," the nutritionist suggested.
Apart from gond katira, basil seeds or sabja are also known for their cooling and digestive properties. As per Deepshikha, if eating sabja seeds for seven days could greatly improve your health....
