India, May 11 -- A mid rising India-Pakistan tensions, director Uttam Maheshwari has apologised for announcing a film based on Operation Sindoor - India's recent counter-terror strike conducted on May 7. The announcement, made just two days later on May 9, drew backlash for its perceived insensitivity and poor timing. In a statement shared via Instagram on May 10, Maheshwari clarified his intent: "The project was born out of deep respect and love for our nation, not for fame or monetisation." Acknowledging the criticism, he added, "I understand the timing may have caused discomfort or pain. For that, I deeply regret." The film, produced by Nicky Vicky Bhagnani Films and The Content Engineer, stirred further controversy when Puja Films issued a statement distancing producers Vashu and Jackky Bhagnani from the project. "They are not associated in any capacity," the clarification read. The backlash intensified after an AI-generated poster of the film was shared online, with several social media users slamming the move as opportunistic and insensitive. Calling the film "an emotion of the nation", Maheshwari ended his note with gratitude for the Armed Forces and Prime Minister Narendra Modi, saying, "Our love and prayers will always be with the families of the martyrs and our brave warriors at the border. Jai Hind." HTC...
