Not comfortable playing mum to someone my age: Hiba on quitting Jhanak
India, May 15 -- With the television show Jhanak set to take a 20-year time leap, recent buzz suggested that actor Hiba Nawab would soon be leaving the show.
The 28-year-old has now confirmed the news of her exit, citing discomfort with the progression of her character. Speaking to us, she explains, "I am not comfortable playing a mother to someone closer to my age. Hiba continues, "Jhanak and Aniruddha's daughter Arshi will grow up post-leap. The story will revolve around her, and obviously, someone closer to my age will be cast. How can I play a mother to someone my age?"
During her almost two-year-long stint on the show, the actor also reveals that she was trolled online for her character's storyline. "The criticism affected my confidence as a performer," Hiba shares, adding, "This was the first time I really faced so many negative comments. I used to scroll through social media and just wonder why it was happening."
Hiba, who wraps up shooting for the show in the first week of June, tells us she is "looking forward to a taking break".
"But I love working," she admits. Could OTT then be her next destination? "I'm open to both television and OTT projects," Hiba replies, adding that she has firm boundaries about the roles she takes up. "I've been approached for bold scenes, and I've had to refuse. I'm clear that I don't want to be a part of something I'm not comfortable with," she ends....
