No brief given: Ashish on playing alleged Wankhede-like cop
India, Oct. 15 -- Despite only a few minutes of his screentime, actor Ashish Kumar's role of a cop in The Ba***ds of Bollywood has created massive buzz - especially given the alleged likeness to former NCB officer Sameer Wankhede and the latter's subsequent defamation case against the makers.
However, Ashish maintains, "As such, no brief was given (to play the role). The casting director gave me the scene and said, 'It's a cop character. Whatever you feel reading the script, perform in your manner'. I followed the lines, they liked it, and I got selected!"
The scene was shot within one day, and he calls working with director Aryan Khan "great": "Team bilkul focused thi."
Given the controversy surrounding the role, ask if he regrets doing this role, and Ashish says, "No comment."
"Maine ye nahin socha ki screentime kam hai, bas socha ki ek scene hai, achcha hai, aur mujhe achcha karna hai bas," he signs off....
