India, July 25 -- Matthew Perry's doctor, Dr Salvador Plasencia has pleaded guilty to charges related to supplying the late actor with ketamine in the month before his death. On Wednesday, the 43-year-old appeared in federal court in Los Angeles (USA) and pleaded guilty to four counts of distribution of ketamine. Prosecutors clarified that he did not sell Matthew the fatal dose. However, they outlined, and Dr Salvador admitted, that after giving the actor an injection that caused him to freeze up and his blood pressure to spike, Dr Salvador still left more ketamine for Matthew's assistant to inject. The charges carry a maximum sentence of 40 years in prison, although he is likely to receive a lesser sentence. The doctor will be sentenced in December. In his plea agreement, he admitted that another patient connected him with Matthew. Starting about a month before his death, he illegally supplied the actor with 20 vials of ketamine, along with ketamine lozenges and syringes. Matthew, 54, was found dead in October 2023 by his assistant, Kenneth Iwamasa. The medical examiner determined that ketamine, typically used as a surgical anesthetic, was the primary cause of death.
