India, Sept. 24 -- Following a one-week suspension, Jimmy Kimmel Live! returned to airwaves yesterday. On Monday, the Walt Disney Company explained its decision to pause production on the popular late-night show in a statement. "Last Wednesday, we made the decision to suspend production on the show to avoid further inflaming a tense situation... for our country. It is a decision we made because we felt some of the comments were ill-timed and thus insensitive," it read. The move to restore the show comes after overwhelming criticism and online movements to 'boycott' both Disney and the ABC Network. The statement went on to detail the "thoughtful conversations" held with host Kimmel in the days following the incident. "After those conversations, we reached the decision to return the show on Tuesday," the company wrote. Kimmel's show was taken off-air after his remarks about political activist and conservative podcaster Charlie Kirk's assassination sparked backlash. During his monologue on the show last Monday, Kimmel (57) criticised American conservatives after Kirk was fatally shot earlier this month. "We hit some new lows over the weekend with the MAGA gang desperately trying to characterise this kid who murdered Charlie Kirk as anything other than one of them and doing everything to score political points."htc...
