It's about respecting the culture: Nora on Tamil debut
India, Aug. 20 -- Actor Nora Fatehi says she is very happy with where she's at in her career. While she basks in the appreciation for her latest song Oh Mama! Tetema, Nora is preparing to make her Tamil debut with the fourth instalment of the horror-comedy Kanchana.
Ask how she was brought onboard and the actor tells us, "I was looking to be part of another comedy after Madgaon Express' (2024) success. When I was offered Kanchana 4, it felt like the right project to step into Tamil cinema with. The franchise has a strong legacy and the script was so unique."
Given her Moroccan-Canadian background, was she worried about the language barrier? "Language is always a challenge, but I've had to adapt to Hindi, Telugu, Malayalam before," says the 33-year-old, adding, "Tamil has been the hardest so far, but I feel it's about respecting the culture and language, and giving your best."
Now that she's worked across regional industries, one wonders about the experience of working in the South versus Hindi cinema. "Working styles, audience expectations, even the filmmaking processes are different. Tamil cinema is rooted in storytelling, while Bollywood has larger-than-life energy. It's exciting for me to experience and learn from both worlds," she replies....
