India, Aug. 17 -- R Madhavan was last seen in Aap Jaisa Koi in which he played a man in his 40s looking for a bride. The actor admits to grappling with age-related insecurities off-screen, too: "One of the first times you get hit about your age is when your kids' friends start calling you uncle. It hits you by shock, but then you have to come to terms with it." At 55, growing older has changed his approach to work. "You have to be careful in the choice of heroines. Even though they still want to work with you, it can look like the actor is having fun on the pretext of the movie. If that is the overwhelming feeling coming out of the film, then the character loses respect," the actor explains, adding, "There is also the realisation that my body strength is not that of a 22-year-old. It's essential for me to accept age appropriateness so it doesn't look sleazy." The film also touches upon equality in relationships. Madhavan, who is married to Sarita Birje, shares, "My parents were equally and deeply in love with each other. But the sense of equality that my father had in the relationship is very different from the sense of equality that I have now. We have to define what equality means."...
