India, UK team up to reimagine creativity beyond cultural borders
India, Feb. 7 -- Over two days, the British Council's Delhi premises turned into a buzzing hub of ideas with its recent Creative Convergence: Growth Reimagined. The event united cultural leaders, artists, designers, filmmakers, researchers and policymakers from India and the UK around one key question: How can creativity drive inclusive and sustainable growth?
Along with panel discussions and policy dialogues, the programme featured pop-up showcases, hands-on sessions and a striking live performance.
Speaking at the event, Lindy Cameron CB OBE said, "The creative economy plays a vital role in the UK-India relationship and is recognised as a powerful driver of inclusive and sustainable growth." Tim Curtis added that creativity needs to move "from the margins to the centre" of development conversations, while Ruth Mackenzie CBE noted that artists help societies thrive, not just survive. Alison Barrett MBE also shared, "The event allows us to create an ecosystem with socially impactful and economically viable solutions."
Built on the India-UK Programme of Cultural Cooperation, the event reinforced the British Council's role as the UK's international organisation for cultural relations and a steady partner to India's creative community.
