I am intentionally staying away from TV: Rashami Desai
India, Jan. 6 -- Days after refuting rumours of being part of reality show, The 50, actor Rashami Desai says that she now plans to move away from the television medium altogether. The reason, she states, is that "nobody wants to see rona dhona in today's time."
Though she became a household name with TV, she now finds it hard to relate to the kind of content being created on the medium.
"Intentionally, I am staying away from TV and being vocal about it, simply because there is just no good content. I've done shows like Uttaran, Pari Hoon Main, Dil se Dil Tak, kahan hain waisi kahaniyaan? Aisa kuch aata toh main bilkul karti," the 39-year-old says.
She adds, "Some reality and real characters are required in today's time. Today's woman knows how to take a stand for herself. How long will it take for makers to understand this and bring shows that run shoulder to shoulder with society? Every story can't be about kitchen politics! I am not able to relate to it or be part of it."
Instead, she is finding her footing on the global stage. She says, "I am occupied with my theatre project, for which I will be travelling internationally for four months."
Rashami is also set to appear in a web project: "I can't talk about it till allowed, but it's a big release for me for 2026, that's for sure."...
