High fashion, higher learning: Future designers learn from India's top couturiers
India, July 30 -- Pearl Academy, India's top institution for creative education, partnered with India Couture Week (ICW) 2025 for the fourth year as the event's exclusive education partner. This year, the academy teamed up with celebrated designer duo Falguni Shane Peacock, known for their bold and futuristic style. Their showcase drew from the grandeur of Indian royals, mixing rich embroidery and detailed work with modern shapes. Actor Akshay Kumar closed the show in an ivory bandhgala and black sunglasses.
Over 50 students from Pearl Academy got a chance to work behind the scenes, across departments with top designers at one of India's biggest fashion events. They handled fittings, styling, media, sequencing and backstage work. This wasn't their first step into the world of couture. Just a few weeks ago, Pearl Academy students were in Paris for a Global Immersion Programme, where they joined special workshops and got backstage access to the Paris Haute Couture Week - one of only two official couture weeks in the world, the other one being the India Couture Week. "Our students don't just watch fashion happen - they help make it happen. We have always led with creativity - not by following trends, but by setting them. This collaboration reflects our deep commitment to experiential learning," says Aditi Srivastava, President, Pearl Academy.
"It was a pleasure to collaborate with Pearl Academy for our showcase at the Hyundai India Couture Week. Partnerships like these are always energising and add a meaningful layer to the overall experience," added Falguni Shane Peacock.
This partnership also reflected a shared belief in creativity without limits. On one side was Falguni Shane Peacock, known for bold, futuristic couture and a star-studded client list - from Beyonce to Bollywood. On the other was Pearl Academy, a creative education leader for over 30 years. Together, they brought fashion and learning onto one stage. As the only educational institute at the India Couture Week 2025, Pearl Academy strengthened its role as a changemaker in design education. It continues to lead with future-ready ideas - from launching India's first Metaverse campus and taking students to fashion hubs like London, Paris, Milan, and New York, to running creative social projects like the Tihar Jail Fashion Lab. The academy keeps pushing the limits of how design is taught, experienced, and used.
