HC refuses Shilpa, Raj permission to travel abroad
India, Oct. 3 -- The Bombay High Court on Wednesday refused interim relief to actor Shilpa Shetty Kundra and her businessman husband Raj Kundra after the two challenged a Look Out Circular issued against them.
The Kundras were seeking the court's permission to travel to Phuket, Thailand for a family trip this week. During the hearing, Shilpa and Raj's advocates pointed out that the couple had cooperated with investigators in previous cases registered against them. Their counsel further noted that the two had travelled overseas "multiple times, and always returned".
The circular being challenged was issued by the Economic Offences Wing (EOW) of the Mumbai police for a Rs.60-crore cheating case.
The couple, in their petition, had highlighted future travel plans between this month and January 2026. At present, the bench has directed the public prosecutor to file a detailed reply to their plea. The matter has now been posted for October 8.
The couple has been courting controversy since 2021, when Raj was arrested on charges of making "pornographic content" and publishing it on mobile apps. A year late, in 2022, the Enforcement Directorate filed a money laundering case against the businessman in connection with the production and circulation of inappropriate content, which he continues ot deny.
This August, the EOW registered a case against both Raj and Shilpa for allegedly cheating businessman Deepak Kothari of Rs.60.48 crore. htc...
