India, Dec. 8 -- American filmmaker Francis Ford Coppola may have had a rough year at the box office, but his watch just became the star of its own blockbuster. His custom FP Journe FFC Prototype watch sold for a jaw-dropping $10.8 million (Rs.97 crore approx.) at a Phillips auction in New York on Saturday. He helped design the one-off piece in 2014 with the ultra-luxe Swiss brand FP Journe. The watch sparked a bidding frenzy and was snapped up by an anonymous phone bidder after eleven minutes. It also lands among the top six most expensive watches ever sold and stands out as the only piece on that list not made by Patek Philippe or Rolex. The win comes after his project Megalopolis (2024) earned only $14.4 million worldwide, despite a massive $120 million budget.
