For someone who looks like me, imposter syndrome is real: Yerin Ha
India, Jan. 23 -- Actor Yerin Ha steps into one of the show's most coveted spaces, that of a leading lady, opposite actor Luke Thompson in Bridgerton season 4. Joining a cast that has been in place since season one, Ha views the role as a chance to begin afresh with audiences.
"It was nice to know my story would be quite different from the other three leading ladies, and I felt privileged to tell it, but I was also super nervous. I was excited, but I definitely felt a lot of pressure bringing this character and story to life," she says. Looking beyond the show's global reach, she adds, "I never saw it as a global phenomenon, but as an opportunity that I hope will open more doors and lead to more opportunities."
Of Australian and South Korean descent, Ha speaks candidly about navigating representation in Western mainstream entertainment: "For people who look like me, imposter syndrome is real. Sometimes it feels like this could be your last job. I also think it's bigger than me. I hope the show proves that more people can be represented and more stories like this can be told."
She credits the web series for embedding inclusivity into its DNA. "It's incredibly important, and Bridgerton has embraced it from day one. That's what intrigued me about the show. It reflects the world as it is today, a melting pot of cultures," she shares, adding, "What's lovely about our love story is that Benedict sees Sophie for who she is on the inside. We need more of that, judging people by who they are, not by how they look. It's a beautiful story to tell, on and off screen."...
