India, June 22 -- A uthorities on Friday confirmed the death of Gujarati filmmaker Mahesh Kalawadia, professionally known as Mahesh Jirawala, in the recent Air India plane crash in Ahmedabad. His identity was verified through a DNA test, bringing a tragic end to his family's search after he was initially reported missing. The crash, described as one of the worst aviation tragedies in recent memory, took place on June 12 near Shahibaug. According to a Divya Bhaskar report, a burnt Activa scooter registered in Jirawala's name was found at the crash site, raising suspicions of his involvement. His mobile phone was also last tracked to the location before it was switched off. Although early clues strongly pointed to Jirawala being among the victims, his family, overwhelmed by shock and disbelief, initially declined to accept the body. It was only after police presented conclusive forensic evidence - matching the scooter's chassis number and a confirmed DNA report - that the family accepted the grim truth. A resident of Naroda, Jirawala was best known for his work in Gujarati-language music videos, advertorials, and regional films. He often shared updates from his professional life on social media.
