This move comes amid growing concerns over the increasing number of film reviewers in the Indian industry, making it difficult to distinguish credible voices from those spreading misinformation. The IFTPC, whose president is producer Sajid Nadiadwala, represents over 375 producers across the industry. The body has issued a statement announcing it is seeking advice "to explore legal remedies under both civil and criminal laws" in response to what it describes as "extortion" by influencers. As per the statement, the IFTPC has noticed "an alarming trend where certain social media influencers are engaging in predatory practices by threatening to release malicious and disparaging reviews or reaction videos of films, series, and other audiovisual content, coupled with demands for payment from producers." The Council further claimed that "if these demands are not met, these influencers threaten to launch campaigns to sabotage a project's reception." The IFTPC is of the view that these alleged "acts of extortion by unscrupulous individuals are a grave threat to the creative and economic health of the Indian film and entertainment industry." HTC...
