India, Sept. 22 -- Italian rapper Fedez has apologised after publishing controversial lyrics describing tennis star Jannik Sinner as speaking with an "Adolf Hitler's accent," sparking accusations of incitement to racial hatred. Fedez posted the lyrics on Instagram in a snippet of a new song: "Italian has a new idol named Jannik Sinner. Pure-blooded Italian with Adolf Hitler's accent." The phrase "pure-blooded Italian" was seen as echoing fascist-era propaganda language. In Bolzano, the capital of the Alto Adige region where Sinner is from, city council member Giuseppe Martucci filed a formal complaint with prosecutors under Italy's penal code that deals with hate speech and propaganda. He described the reference as unacceptable and warned that normalising language evoking racism and hatred from public figures is dangerous. Speaking at a concert in Milan, Fedez defended his intent, saying he meant to highlight a paradox: athletes born and raised in Italy who are not always accepted as Italian due to their skin colour. He admitted the lyrics "came off terribly" and took responsibility. htc...
