Don't criminalise indie dogs, says Bhumi
India, Aug. 14 -- Sonakshi box: 'We expose how soul-less we have become'
Sonakshi Sinha also voiced her opinion against the Supreme Court's order, mentioning that the directive exposes how "soulless we have become as a society." The actor took to Instagram Stories and reposted a note that said, "Street dogs are not a problem. They are victims. Victims of fear, hunger, disease, neglect, cruelty, and abandonment." The note also insisted that sending them to shelters is not a solution and added, "Spaying and vaccinating street dogs is the real, humane solution". Sharing the note, Sonakshi wrote, "Day by day we expose how soul-less we have become as a society. Every day is a disappointment."
Bhumi box: 'Not their fault - it's ours'
Bhumi Pednekar also doesn't agree with the order and feels that Indian Pariah dogs have been part of the Indian cultural and spiritual heritage, and one should not criminalise their existence. Sharing the story of her own indie dog Bruno, the actor wrote on Instagram, "Not their fault - it's ours, for failing to instil empathy, co existence and kindness with us. Bruno is a wise soul. He is intelligent, kind, playful, nurturing, protective yet gentle." She added, "Instead of criminalising their existence or punishing those who care, I hope we create stronger reforms and systems- Mass sterilisation drives. Regular vaccination programs. Community-led feeding and monitoring." Insiting on how the Indian Pairah dogs have been part of Indian history, she wrote, "In our ancient scriptures, they stood for loyalty, dharma, spiritual companionship, and protection. Removing them en masse, stripping them of the only life they know, will not solve the root issues - it will only create more cruelty and displacement. May there be empathy. May there be peace. May justice prevail...
