India, Nov. 19 -- Cricketer KL Rahul's new interview has stirred social media, with several users calling it a jibe at Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) owner Sanjiv Goenka. In a candid chat with Jatin Sapru from Humans of Bombay, Rahul said that the demands of captaining an IPL franchise "drain" him more than 10 months of international cricket. The 33-year-old, who led the Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) from 2022 to 2024, appeared to reference franchise-level pressures when he remarked: "What I found hard as a captain in the IPL was the number of meetings. the number of reviews. and the number of things that you needed to explain at the ownership level. All of that is really like energy draining." He added, "You're just constantly being asked a lot of questions. Why did you make this change? Why did X play in the XI? Why is it that the opposition got 200 and we couldn't even get 120?" He contrasted this with the national-team setup, saying: "You're only answerable to the coach and the selectors. No matter what you do, there's nothing in sport that guarantees victory." Although Rahul did not name Goenka explicitly, social-media users quickly concluded the remarks were aimed at the LSG owner, renewing focus on publicised tensions between the two. The comments come after LSG's decision not to retain Rahul ahead of the IPL 2025 mega-auction, despite him being the franchise's highest run-scorer in 2024. htc...
