Did Aditya issue notice over Dhurandhar 2 plagiarism claims?
India, April 4 -- A
fter Kannada writer-filmmaker Santosh Kumar RS, known for films such as Campus Kranti (2023), alleged at a press conference on March 31 that Dhurandhar: The Revenge was plagiarised, director Aditya Dhar has reportedly moved to issue a legal notice against him.
A source tells us, "Aditya has already issued a notice to Santosh through his legal team, refuting the allegations and requesting him to refrain from making false claims. Despite the aforesaid, since Santosh continues to make baseless allegations, Aditya is in the process of initiating appropriate legal proceedings against him."
However, Santosh claims that all he got is a response via mail: "It isn't a notice, it is just a reply on my mail. They were harassing that I should not complain and that I am defaming them for my publicity. I told them, don't send me messages, come to court.
Santosh claims that Dhurandhar: The Revenge is based on his original script D Saheb, which he says was registered with the Screenwriters Association (SWA) in November 2023. "They have manipulated my project, script and exploited me. I have all the proof from the Screenwriters Association," he tells us.
Santosh further alleges a lack of response from the makers: "I could not reach Aditya. I contacted the production house, Jio Studios. They said we are just producers; you have to discuss this with B62 Studios (Aditya's production company). The producers are harassing me for making the story public."
While the producers did not officially respond to our queries, a source close to the development terms the allegations "baseless". They say, "All the allegations of Santosh are false and untenable. The story is the brainchild of Aditya, who registered the story with SWA in September 2023 itself."...
