India, July 4 -- Come monsoon, the outdoors feel irresistible - but for stray animals, rains spell discomfort and danger. Finding a dry corner, staying warm, or even eating a proper meal becomes a daily struggle. This is where the young animal lovers across NCR step in. "With the very first rainfall of the season, our team of carpenters began building shelters," shares Jigyasa Dhingra, the 21-year-old founder of NGO PawsinPaws (8130725764), adding, "I started placing these sturdy wooden and fibreglass sheet doghouses with jute beds across Delhi and Gurugram. Even a single dry spot can change a street dog's life." Some pawsome residents are upcycling old materials to create waterproof doghouses. "We order 200kg to 300kg of essential food materials for strays, which come in waterproof bags. Using these and discarded metal, we create upcycled waterproof beds and plates, and also reduce our carbon footprint," says 25-year-old Aura Bhandari, founder of NGO Tales of Tailss (8700380272). Amid these efforts, others are engaging the community to ensure that feeding drives are not affected by the downpour. Mudit Shekhawat, a 24-year-old IT professional from Gurugram Sector 45, is building simple, covered feeding stations. "Food often gets drenched and wasted. So we have created feeding spots with basic overhead covers. In heavy downpours, dogs also rest there," he explains. Mudit has also created a WhatsApp group, (9266355822) Make Monsoon Better for Strays to crowdsource locations and needs: "It's a small step, but it's already making the neighbourhood more compassionate."...
