Delhi morning report: Cold, colder, Capital!
India, Jan. 11 -- On Saturday, Delhi recorded a minimum temperature of 4.2deg C, 2.7deg lower than normal and slightly lower than the previous day's temperature. As the city shivers through its coldest winter morning in two years, a moment of everyday resilience has struck a chord online.
In an X post, neurobiologist Ishwariya Venkatesh of CSIR-CCMB praised her team for showing up to "talk about their science" despite being "wrapped up in layers". She accompanied it with snapshot of professionals powering through the Capital's biting winter (see left).
A social media user commented on the X post: "With such discussions on hot topics, the weather should not be a bother. Also, IMO Delhi is not as cold compared to two decades ago."
Temperatures have been dipping to 4.2degC and dense fog has gripped the NCR. The temperature on Saturday was lowest for this month in two years, when the city recorded 3.5deg C on January 16, 2024. The first cold day in Delhi was recorded on January 6 this year: 7.6deg C, 0.7deg below normal.
Dense fog and chilly northwesterly winds are being considered as the primary reasons to cause the temperature to fall and extend the cold spell over Delhi-NCR, as per IMD officials. htc...
