Christopher Nolan's The Odyssey tickets sell out in 3 minutes, a full year before release
India, July 20 -- C
hristopher Nolan's The Odyssey may be over a year away from hitting theatres, but that didn't stop eager fans from snapping up IMAX tickets the moment they dropped. In an unprecedented move, tickets for the first screenings of Nolan's latest film went on sale on July 17, exactly one year ahead of its global release - and sold out within minutes.
The early ticket drop, announced on Thursday, was limited to select cities across the US, Canada, UK, Europe, and Australia. Locations like New York, Los Angeles, London, Melbourne, and Prague saw near-instant sell-outs for the 70MM format.
On social media, fans documented the scramble. One user posted a screengrab with the caption: "It's been three minutes since The Odyssey IMAX tickets went on sale and the Universal CityWalk July 16th show is nearly sold out." Another commented: "Lincoln Square Theatre in NYC? Gone in under three minutes."
In Los Angeles, multiple theatres reported that tickets disappeared in less than a minute - making it one of the fastest-selling events in recent memory.
The hype is unsurprising. The Odyssey marks Nolan's return to mythological storytelling, with a big-screen adaptation of Homer's epic poem. The film stars Matt Damon as Odysseus and Tom Holland as his son Telemachus, alongside a stellar ensemble that includes Anne Hathaway, Zendaya, Lupita Nyong'o, Robert Pattinson, Charlize Theron, and Jon Bernthal. Set for release on July 17, 2026, the film will chronicle the long, perilous journey of Odysseus as he tries to return home after the Trojan War-a sweeping narrative full of gods, monsters, and mortal dilemmas that seems tailor-made for Nolan's cinematic style.HTC...
