CelebS Stir controversy at BMC polls
India, Jan. 17 -- The elections forBrihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC)that was held on Thursday saw several celebrities casting their votes but some even made headlines, not for the right reasons.
Hema Malini, one among the many Bollywood celebrities who cast their vote, had to face citizens ire. She was confronted for getting special treatment at the centre by angry bystanders who had been standing in line for hours to vote.While the actor was seen speaking to the media, a common citizen confronted her, saying, "We have been here for the last 60 years, and there is chaos here for the first time. I have been here since 7.45am, and it was at 9.30am when I voted. Nobody is answerable. Nobody is accountable!"Hema ushered in someone from her team to tackle the matter. While some internet users criticised the actor, some also came in her support staing her as a senior citizen.
After casting his vote, actor Aamir Khan found himself stepping into the ongoing Marathi vs Hindi language debate. Speaking to the media, the actor urged the people of Mumbai to step out and vote in the civic elections while also lauding the smooth polling arrangements. As he delivered his message in Marathi, a few members of the media requested him to repeat it in Hindi. "Hindi mein? yeh Maharashtra hai, bhai," Aamir responded to the query with a smile. When the media told him his message would also be aired in Delhi, the actor continued, "Oh, it will go to Delhi as well? Very good arrangements have been made.
