Cannes has been very lucky for me: Rahul Bhat on his third visit
India, May 17 -- Actor Rahul Bhat is scheduled to make his third appearance at the ongoing Cannes Film Festival today, walking for the screening of his debut Hollywood film Lost and Found In Kumbh (LAFIK).
The actor, who earlier appeared for Ugly (2013) and yet-to-be-released Kennedy, both directed by Anurag Kashyap, tells us, "I must be the first actor to make a Cannes appearance for the third time, and that too, for a lead role. The place has been very lucky for me."
Ask him to elaborate and he shares, "I worked in a Chinese film after Ugly but unfortunately, it got shelved during the pandemic. Hollywood studio Mulberry Film approached me after Kennedy, where we got a seven-minute standing ovation. I hope something bigger is in store with this new release - it's been made in India for a global audience."
LAFIK was extensively shot during the Maha Kumbh Mela in Prayagraj (Uttar Pradesh) earlier this year, with some scenes being shot in Germany.
Rahul, currently working on filmmaker Sudhir Mishra's web series Summer of 77, portrays a professor visiting his father in hometown with his British wife and son in LAFIK: "There, he meets his ex-wife and son. Both the sons get lost in Kumbh and the movie is all about that and the confluence of Ganga, Yamuna, and Saraswati."
The film will be screened at the Marche du Film (Cannes Film Market). "Wahan ka nasha hi kuchh aur hai! It's true that cinema, be it films or OTT, is international now," he signs off....
