Axwell loves India's energy, returns for another tour
India, Nov. 23 -- A
xwell returns to India once again, a market he has often described as one of the most electrifying stops on his touring calendar. The Swedish DJ and producer says the pull has remained unchanged over the years: the intensity of the audience and the way Indian crowds respond to music.
"India has a very unique energy. The crowd doesn't just listen, they feel the music and they send that emotion right back," says the DJ, who is all set to perform in Mumbai on December 21. Each visit, he adds, feels bigger, louder and more evolved than the last. "People scream louder than my speakers, and my speakers are very loud," he says with a laugh. The high intensity allows him to push edits, drops and emotional peaks further than he usually would. He is also open to collaborating with rising Indian producers, calling the scene "talented, unique and full of fresh ideas". Many young musicians, he adds, do not hesitate to send him demos, sometimes even at 3am, and he enjoys discovering new voices from unexpected corners of the country.
After years of touring, the stage still gives him the same rush. The adrenaline, he says, comes from the moment a crowd turns into "one giant organism," singing and moving together. The unpredictability of live performance, whether a cable gives out or the audience sings louder than the PA, remains the part he enjoys most....
