Aryan Khan drugs case: Wankhede claims he never demanded bribe from SRK
India, March 25 -- F
ormer Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB) zonal director Sameer Wankhede told the Bombay HC on Monday that he neither demanded nor accepted any bribe from actor Shah Rukh Khan in connection with the Cordelia cruise drugs case involving the actor's son, Aryan Khan.
The case stems from a 2023 FIR accusing Wankhede and four others of conspiring to extort Rs.25 crore from SRK in exchange for letting Aryan off the hook after the October 2021 bust in the Cordelia cruise. He was also accused of accepting Rs.50 lakh as part of the alleged deal.
Wankhede has now challenged the case, arguing it was filed beyond the four-month limit under Section 17A of the Prevention of Corruption Act.
His counsel, Aabad Ponda, told the court that the CBI has no evidence to support the allegations. There was no demand for a bribe, no receipt of money, and no payment made to Wankhede, he said, adding, "The case is [that] somebody else has taken money."
The controversy dates back to October 2, 2021, when an NCB team raided a Goa-bound Cordelia cruise ship and arrested Aryan, his friend Arbaaz Merchant, and others, claiming to have seized narcotics.
