Art, architecture and inspiration: Rama Duwaji's India diary
India, May 3 -- Syrian-American artist Rama Duwaji recently shared a photo dump on Instagram from her visit to India, nearly four months after her husband Zohran Mamdani was sworn in as Mayor of New York City.
"Things I saw in April that made me want to make art," she wrote, while sharing list of 14 items that fascinated her while in India.
Among the images was a door in Amritsar, Punjab, which she described as striking for "the pattern of the wood and the darker textures where it's been weathered most. Another photograph featured a lithograph by painter Satish Gujral from 1952. In Delhi, she watched Koodal a 1970 film by Tyeb Mehta at the Kiran Nadar Museum of Art while also visiting the ink drawings by Mehta. She also praised the "geomertry" of the 19th-century Thandatti ear studs from Tamil Nadu at the Amrapali museum.htc...
