Are Gurugram parents really 'entitled'?
India, March 19 -- Are Gurugram-based children proving that their parents are entitled? Two recent incidents from the Millennium City have sparked a wider conversation online about parenting, privilege and behaviour in affluent urban spaces.
An Instagram Reel by Nidhi JG, (@auntyfunnyhai), which drew 210K views, describes a playground incident where her son was nearly pushed off a high slide by another child (see screengrab left). She says she raised her voice out of "maternal instinct" to prevent a potential injury. However, instead of acknowledging the safety risk, the other child's parent reportedly objected to her tone.
"So this happened, and I safely got my child out of there. then that child's mother comes to me and says, 'Don't you think you should have spoken softly? She's also a child','" she says in the video, adding that she apologised but was still criticised.
In another clip from a housing society drawing 179K views on X, a child allegedly tried to win an argument by boasting about wearing underwear from the luxury brand, Calvin Klein (see screengrab right). This prompted debate about the "status competition", even among children.
Both incidents have reignited debate around values, supervision and social behaviour in urban communities. They prompted strong reaction across social media, with some users sharing similar experiences.
One user wrote, "Parents, instead of being civil or disciplining their kids, just come to fight with other parents." Another added, "Not just Gurgaon, this is everywhere now (sic)."
The second video also drew a dash of humour, as a commenter quipped, "Lux Cozy dikha do aap."htc...
