Anushka Sen makes music debut, calls it a 'homecoming'
India, Nov. 23 -- Anushka Sen has tried multiple creative identities over the years - child actor, digital star, OTT performer, global youth ambassador - and now is stepping into a new space with her debut single Chameleon. And at the heart of this transition, she says, is the person who recognised her potential first: "My mum is the first person who thought I had a lovely voice. she's my first Guru," Anushka says, adding, "It's a long-awaited homecoming."
Released on Tuesday last week, the track has been crafted with two-time Grammy-winner Ken Lewis, the engineer-producer known for his work with artistes including Taylor Swift, Drake, Bruno Mars and Kendrick Lamar. Their partnership began unexpectedly last year while Anushka was working on a UN SDG project. "He thought that I had a lovely voice and that's when our musical journey began," she recalls.
What followed was a year-long, collaborative process that unfolded slowly and intentionally. It allowed the two to build something rooted in authenticity and Anushka's lived experiences. "He took the time to get to know me, my journey, my story. Working on something so personal with somebody like Ken Lewis has been amazing," the 23-year-old gushes.
For Anushka, the song mirrors her own evolution, which audiences have witnessed for nearly 15 years. "I've grown up literally in front of the media and my fans," she shares, adding, "From seven years old to now, every project and every character has shaped me. My evolution has been televised every second."
The core idea of Chameleon - adapting, shifting, growing - emerges directly from that journey. "Everyone gets different situations in life. You have to be like a chameleon and adapt to the atmosphere," she signs off....
