India, Dec. 5 -- M ultiple Grammy-nominated musician Anoushka Shankar slammed Air India after discovering her sitar was damaged during a recent flight, despite paying a handling fee. Calling the incident "devastating", she accused the airline of showing "wilful disregard" towards a fragile Indian instrument. On Wednesday, Shankar posted a video on Instagram showing cracks on her sitar and narrated how she initially thought it was out of tune. "After I tuned it, I picked it up to play and that's when I realised. This was my first time flying Air India in a long time. You're the country this music belongs to," she said. "This is the first time anything like this has happened to my instrument in 15 or 17 years." In her post, she questioned the airline: "How have you done this? I have special cases, you charge a handling fee, and yet you've done this?" She added that she had travelled on "thousands of flights" with no damage "not even a peg going out of tune". Her complaint sparked immediate support from artistes and fans. Comedian Zakir Khan, who is also an avid sitar player, commented, "This is extremely heartbreaking," while composer Vishal Dadlani wrote, "God, that's heartbreaking!"HTC...
