India, Sept. 26 -- A t Travancore Palace, designer Raseel Gujral Ansal and Navin Ansal unveiled their art exhibition, Remember, It is my Circus! The showcase explores themes of identity, masks and performance through artworks featuring monkeys in uniforms and masks, a concept inspired by stories from Raseel's own experiences and family legacy. The creative process began with AI-generated visuals, which were then refined by artisans in Jaipur. Explaining the choice of monkeys as central figures, Raseel noted that they allow for a more layered narrative than humans. "People put on a uniform and they put on a persona, both are metaphorical and literal iterations of putting on a mask," she said. Navin added that the monkeys' uniformity underscores how they can be perceived as "all the same." The exhibition also includes works by Raseel's father, the late artist Satish Gujral, alongside three sculptures by Raseel herself. Titled The Three Devis - Devi, Damsel, and Diva - these pieces reflect the many roles women embody. The showcase is open to the public until September 28....
