Ali Abbas Zafar-Studio dispute: Matter being dealt with legally

n a fresh legal development, Jio Studios on Saturday issued a public notice flagging its contractual claim related to filmmaker Ali Abbas Zafar and his production house.
Published in a trade magazine, the notice states that under contractual arrangements effective September 30, 2025, the studio "holds and continues to hold a first and paramount lien" on all income, revenues, receipts, proceeds and earnings of any nature, present or future, connected to the agreement. In effect, it suggests the company has the first claim over such proceeds.
The development is reportedly linked to their OTT film Bloody Daddy, which starred Shahid Kapoor and released in 2023. The film had premiered as a direct-to-OTT release on the platform, with Ali serving as writer, director and co-producer. When contacted, Ali's team acknowledged the notice and said, "The matter is being dealt with legally." The studio confirmed the development but did not comment further till the time of going to press....
