Akshaye never left the game: Dhurandhar co-star Rakesh Bedi

ctor Rakesh Bedi is delighted with the response to his role as Jameel Jamali in Aditya Dhar's blockbuster Dhurandhar, sharing that people from "across the world" have been congratulating him for the nuanced performance. The film continues to dominate the box office, having crossed Rs.1,186 crore worldwide, and audiences have especially praised Akshaye Khanna's turn as Rehman Dakait.
While many have described the film as Akshaye's big 'comeback', Rakesh doesn't agree with that narrative. "Akshaye was always in the game. He never left it," he says. Having shared several key scenes, and many deep off-camera conversations, with Akshaye, Rakesh believes performances like these are rare career moments. "Uski aur humari films lagti rehti hain, koi kam chalti hai, koi zyada chalti hai, but it doesn't mean he was out of the industry," he adds.
Rakesh, who plays a conniving Pakistani politician and Ranveer Singh's onscreen father-in-law, says he studied real politicians to shape the role: "Aditya and I then arrived at a common vision for the character." As for the film's part 2, the actor remains tight-lipped but hints at major developments ahead. "There will be even bigger twists and turns, especially now that my character's political destiny rests in Ranveer's hands," he teases, before laughing: "Aage ki kahani kya hai, woh to main bilkul nahi bataunga!"...
