NEW DELHI, March 24 -- In the mountains of Bavaria lies Berchtesgaden, one of Germany's hidden treasures. This pretty alpine village is at the foot of Mount Watzmann. Driving eastward from Munich, the mountains grow taller, the roads grow steeper, the rivers grow wider, and the towns grow sparser and smaller.
