India, July 22 -- At an event organised in the Capital on Wednesday last week, the French Embassy conferred designer-author-educator Toolika Gupta withthe Chevalier de l'Ordre nationaldu Merite (Knight in the National Order of Merit). The honour was presented by Thierry Mathou, Ambassador of France to India, acknowledging her long-standing contributions, cross-cultural engagement, and academic work. Speaking at the ceremony held on Wednesday last week at the Embassy of France, the ambassador said: "Her tireless contributions to fostering Indo-French cultural and academic collaborations have created lasting bridges between our two nations in education, heritage preservation, innovation, and cultural diplomacy." The Chevalier de l'Ordre national du Merite is one of France's highest civilian honours, given across fields including cultural exchange.
