India, Sept. 21 -- I stand here not just as an actress, but as the proud daughter of a soldier whose sacrifice reminds us every day of the true meaning of service," said actor Nimrat Kaur, the guest of honour at the silver jubilee celebration of the Border Roads Organisation Wives Welfare Association (BROWWA) in the Capital. The actor's father Major Bhupender Singh was posthumously honoured with the Shaurya Chakra after being killed in action in 1994.
The event celebrated 25 years of BROWWA's work supporting military families in some of India's most challenging terrains.
The morning's cultural segment featured traditional dance performances such as Assam's Bihu and Arunachal Pradesh's Cheraw. The association also released its annual magazine and launched a new song, capping off a morning that blended tradition, community spirit, and heartfelt appreciation. But the heart of the event was the virtual unveiling of the bust of Major Singh in Srinagar, led by Nimrat and her mother, Abnash Kaur.
The tribute was a moving reminder of the sacrifices made by military families. Among those present were Director General, Border Roads Lt Gen Raghu Srinivasan, alongside BROWWA President Sumita Raghu....
