India, Dec. 9 -- "People think winning a pageant opens every door, but that's not entirely true," says Ruhi Singh, Miss Universal Peace and Humanity 2014. "It opens options, but doesn't guarantee work, only a moment of visibility. After that you start from zero again," she elaborates. The model-actor calls pageants "only a structured route to achieve my dream of becoming an actor". She says, "There's always been a stereotype that if you come from a pageant, you're 'model material', not acting material. But that box had nothing to do with the actor I wanted to be, or actor I am." She adds, "I've done theatre, character workshops, everything. I just wanted to learn the craft honestly. My journey has not been a walk in the park." Her OTT work, including Runaway Lugai, reshaped how filmmakers see her. She says, "OTT changed the game for me. It showed makers I can do more than what my image suggests. The industry is more willing to experiment. directors and producers see performers, not labels." Ruhi, who recently starred in Mastiii 4, adds, "Comedy is the toughest genre. I studied Juhi Chawla, Paresh Rawal, Johnny Lever and Sridevi. Cracking a role and seeing it release. creates a whole new ball game," she signs off....
