India, Sept. 10 -- For the Indian men's hockey team, which recently clinched the 2025 Hockey Asia Cup after eight years, the victory is more than just a sporting milestone - it's a glimmer of hope in the wake of the devastating floods that have hit parts of India. Team captain Harmanpreet Singh says, "It's a moment of immense pride for all of us... But our hearts go out to the (flood) victims and their families. We would like to dedicate this win to the people of India who are currently facing the devastating aftermath of the floods." Harmanpreet also paid tribute to the efforts of those on the ground: "I salute the Indian Army, NDRF (National Disaster Response Force), rescue volunteers, and frontline workers who are working tirelessly to rehabilitate our states." On what led to the victory, which also secured India a direct entry into the FIH Hockey World Cup next year, Harmanpreet says, "It's the result of months of hard work, discipline, and unity.
