One could never really imagine back then that a documentary on free soloing would one day go on to win an Academy Award for Best Documentary Feature. But National Geographic's Free Solo - directed by husband-wife duo of Elizabeth Chai Vasarhelyi and Jimmy Chin - did that, and also gave us one of the best character studies showcasing the sheer passion and the real stakes behind free soloing. The film followed Alex Honnold as he attempted to conquer the El Capitan - a 3,000-foot vertical rock face in the Yosemite National Park, US - making him the first person to have accomplished this feat....
