'I no longer want the burden of making others happy'

British actor Sam Claflin, known for films like Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides (2011), Me Before You (2016) and the Hunger Games series, has just come out with his new mystery-thriller TV series, Lazarus. Reflecting on the impact of global fandom, the 39-year-old says he rarely dwells on fame because "that puts more pressure on things." The actor is grateful to his fans but "no longer wants the responsibility of making other people happy."
Sharing his experience of working with actor Bill Nighy and author-creator Harlan Coben on the series, Sam calls the experience "a gift for an actor". He admits portraying his character Joel Lazarus "took a toll" on him. He explains, "I had my own mini breakdown after filming. I put everything into it. Was physically, emotionally and mentally tortured through the process of filming, but not in a bad way."
On India, he shares: "I've never been to India and it's on my list - I hope there's a project that will take me there one day."...
