India, Oct. 15 -- Pranutan Bahl has an acting legacy that most would be envious of. As the granddaughter of Nutan, grandniece of Tanuja, and daughter of Mohnish Bahl, the 32-year-old is more than aware of the privilege her family name affords. As she awaits the release of her Hollywood debut film, however, Pranutan notes that being an 'insider' has its own share of pitfalls. "Since I was surrounded by actors, it became easier for me to understand that this is a tough industry. I was given plenty of warnings that there are lots of spells with no work. It's a harder emotional journey to understand that for people who don't have parents in the industry," she says. Dismissing the notion that 'star kids' have it easy should they choose to follow in their parents' footsteps, Pranutan shares, "Every star kid does not get everything on a platter, and I am living proof. Just because I'm an actor's kid doesn't mean my family is funding my films." While she debuted in 2019 with Notebook, the actor reveals she had begun auditioning as early as 2016. She recalls, "I didn't have to deal with the emotional upheaval of being an actor, but you do have to deal with a lot of rejection." Ask why audition and she explains, "I walked into auditions and only gave my first name because I don't want to get a call back from a casting director because I'm Nutan ji's granddaughter or Mohnish Bahl's daughter. I needed to know that the calls were because of my talent."...
