India, Aug. 11 -- Cont'd from p1 Her acting debut in 2022 ensured that Manushi Chhillar joined a league of beauty-queens-turned actors such as Sushmita Sen, Aishwarya Rai Bachchan and Priyanka Chopra Jonas. As she speaks about making the transition from modelling to films, we ask the actor about the common misconceptions most people still have about pageantry. The 28-year-old is quick to reply, "The first thing people think about when it comes to the world of beauty pageant is the word 'glamour'. I do not agree with that, most people only see someone being crowned onstage on the pageant night." A handful of films old in Bollywood, Manushi has played both glam roles and not-so-glam ones, like her turn in the recently released Maalik. Bring up the stereotypes that pageants are about glitzy gatherings, glamour and looking pretty, and the former beauty queen tells us she is trying to break those myths. The 2017 Miss World explains, "What we do the whole year is not a very glamourous job. I was working with a charity called Beauty With A Purpose, constantly travelling to the remotest areas of the world." Why does she think these ideas remain? "What I had to do as Miss World was not just wear a crown, dress up and get photographed. But it's only one that gets the most media coverage, which is probably why it gets most spoken about," she ends....
