'Have set two days to experience the local culture'
India, Nov. 16 -- Irish pop-rock favourites The Script made their long-awaited India debut at the Cherry Blossom Festival in Shillong on Friday, marking a moment fans have been patiently-often loudly-waiting for. Danny O'Donoghue, who led the band through a hit-heavy set featuring global staples like Breakeven and The Man Who Can't Be Moved, says performing in India has been "a long time coming."
"We're deeply honoured to be invited to this festival as we have not had the chance to play our music live in India before," O'Donoghue says, adding that the band's Indian fanbase has consistently made its presence known on internet. "We're excited to finally bring our live show to Shillong and hope that this will be the first of many."
For their first outing in the Northeast, the band kept things classic-leaning into the songs that turned them into global radio mainstays. O'Donoghue admits he was "dying to sing" their biggest hits for an Indian crowd, especially the emotional double-punch of Superheroes and Hall Of Fame, tracks that have defined The Script's journey for over a decade.
The band isn't just treating the festival as a stop on the touring map. O'Donoghue also made time to explore the city before and after the performance. "I've set aside two days to go travelling and soak up the city. do the touristy things like Elephant Falls, but I also want to get to the small markets and taste a bit of the local culture," he shares....
