#DUAdmissions: talent meets tenacity at ECA trials
India, July 28 -- Young hopefuls from across the country arrived at Delhi University's undergraduate Extra-Curricular Activities (ECA) trials last week. Securing a seat is no mean feat - ECA performances have a weightage of 75% to the CUET's 25%.
At the theatre trials, held at Miranda House college, Delhi's Ujjwal Shrivastava overcame nerves after a shaky start to impress the judges. He tells us, "I had four minutes to perform, and all my prep felt like nothing. But when I had a minute left, I broke loose."
Another aspirant, Suhani Kumari admits to being a bundle of nerves after she nearly missed her slot. When questioned about her lack of confidence, she told the judges she was freezing after getting drenched in rain. The ACs were turned off, and as she puts it, "I told myself, 'Forget everything; enjoy it'."
But for some, like Mohit, the experience was calmer. "I want to get into Hansraj College and pursue English (Hons)," he says, adding, "I wanted to fuel my dream with my performance." Meanwhile, Jhansi native Geetanjali knew there was no room for error. "Fitting everything into a short time was tough, but I kept thinking about how badly I want to get into DU," she says....
