Woman's dismembered body found in drain
NOIDA, Nov. 7 -- The headless body of an unidentified woman was found on Thursday in a drain in Noida, next to an open ground of an upscale high-rise and Sector 108 park, along the Noida-Greater Noida Expressway, police said.
Police said appears to be a case of murder with the victim, who was not wearing clothes, also having her hands chopped off from the wrists. The hands and head have yet to be found.
The body was discovered floating in the 8-foot drain by a passerby. The cause of death was not immediately clear and police believe the body is between 24 to 48 hours old. It has been sent for post-mortem. An investigation is also underway to identify the victim and ascertain what happened.
Jitendra Kumar Singh, SHO of Sector 39, "Prima facie, it is suspected to be a murder due to circumstances and chopped body parts. The body was shifted to post-mortem and a case will be registered following a complaint or after getting the autopsy report."
"On Thursday around 12 pm, we received information on the emergency helpline number from a passerby that a body was spotted floating in an 8-foot-deep drain in an isolated place in Noida, Sector 108," said a senior police officer, requesting anonymity....
